Alaiya Cave
Alaiya Cave is a doula, born and raised in Omaha, seeking to center the needs of black families in the metro-area. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in 2019, Alaiya returned to Omaha with the hope of utilizing her education in the field of wildlife conservation and ecology as a public servant.During the off season, Alaiya began to focus her efforts on becoming a full spectrum doula after learning about the healthcare disparities in black communities. She came to understand why she was being called to birthwork, to aid in the fight against medical racism. Since December of 2019, Alaiya has trained as a Full Spectrum Doula with Ancient Song Doula Services based out of Brooklyn. She has received specialized training in Lactation Support, Pelvic Floor exercises, and Postpartum Nutrition. She is a supporter of natural ,communal, and sacred birthing traditions hoping to center divinity and self-hood during each individual birthing experience. She believes parents should be given the power and autonomy to make informed decisions regarding their care that will enable them to focus on their growth and healing over the course of pregnancy and postpartum. Alaiya can’t wait to push for more natural birthing options in Nebraska and provide doula support during all stages of pregnancy.
